General information

MatTaFi (Mathematics with Aid of Computer in Finland) is a university and polytechnic level collaborative network, which aims to advance use of e-learning and interactive technologies in mathematics education, and to develop digital study materials for mathematics teachers in Finnish universities. Members of the network are five research universities and five polytechnics.

The materials are aimed for both traditional and e-learning courses in the university level. Some of the materials are also suitable for high school students intrested in deepening their knowledge in mathematics.

The goal is to build collections of study materials that can be used in different ways: they can be building blocks for courses, they can be given as additional reading for students, or they can be independently used as electronic reference books. Materials are available from this server. They can be used on-line, but in many cases the user may also download them for local usage. The main principle here is that the materials are produced with funds provided by the society, and hence they are free to use for public educational institutions and private citizens in Finland. For other types of usage, and for commercial usage in particular, has to be argeed separately. Some materials may be restricted in other ways also.

The members of the network are:

  • Helsinki University of Technology, network coordinator
  • University of Helsinki
  • University of Turku
